I am an ex-Nurse (quit the healthcare industry) who worked at Willowbrook Care Home. I will be perfectly honest; through all years working as a Nurse in care homes, NHS, and private Hospitals, Willowbrook Care Home was the best place to work at. Of course, it has own challenges and some days were exhausting, but I will tell you that the Home Manager, Barry Flanagan is one of the best managers and human beings that I have ever met. He has been so kind and supportive TOWARDS ANYONE. In general, he supports his staff and tries to help them as much as he can ensuring the service is running around the clock. He will protect his staff instead of rejecting them during difficult times. It is a very rare approach nova days. What about the care home itself? OUTSTANDING - not only according to CQC, but also according to me. Do you want some facts? In care homes, they staff (on average) 2-3 carers for usually 15 service users...Willowbrook Care Home on average provides 6 or even more carers for 15 service users! It depends on care needs. I remember staffing like 8 carers for 15 service users...On top of that you get a Registered Nurse and/or Senior Healthcare Assistant. Good memories!
