My great aunt was at the lawns for respite care my family were really pleased with the care she received. All the staff were amazing and we look forward to visiting again soon.

Unfortunately The Lawns is managed by Marie Welsh, who previously managed the now defunct and discredited St Bennetts care home in Leicester, where my father was resident. While she was there she appeared to be colluding in retaliatory behaviour initiated by the proprietor of that establishment, by withholding communications with me which were necessary for my father's welfare. The retaliatory behaviour occurred after I made a complaint on behalf of my father. I subsequently made a complaint about this matter to the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman (LGSCO) – the complaint was upheld and you can read their judgement by going onto the LGSCO web site and doing searches of their judgement section for ‘Mapara' (the name of the proprietor), and also for ‘St Bennetts.’ Retaliatory behaviour following complaints infringes legal and consumer requirements as they apply to care homes. I believe this casts doubt on the suitability of Ms Welsh to be in a managerial position.

I looked round this home a few days ago on the recommendation of a friend as we were looking for some respite care for my mother once her surgery is completed. The staff were very welcoming and happy to answer all the questions I had and the environment was lovely with plenty of facilities to accommodate my mothers needs. Will be in touch again soon to make the final arrangements.
