The Heron House

Welcome Home. When contemplating prospective names for our home, we knew we wanted it to reflect the Gulf of Maine. More specifically, Casco Bay, a place that means “home” for us; the beautiful blue waters that have brought our Maine family and many others so much peace, comfort and adventure. There are a couple of theories about the origin of the name "Casco Bay" and one of them is that “Aucocisco”, the Abenaki name for the bay, translates to “place of herons”. Based on that, and the fact that there are so many beautiful herons that choose to live in the town of Cumberland to the delight of its residents, we ran with it, and The Heron House was born.
