I have been singing at Meadbank for the past approx 13 years, so my review is mainly of my experience with regards to the activities team. I have had a lovely time singing for the residents at Meadbank. The activities team, with Yolande at the head, put on a vast array of themes for the residents every year. This has included an afternoon tea for Silver Sunday, '70s Disco, Christmas parties, St Patrick's Day and Halloween, along with lots of general sing-alongs, including songs from the 1920s-1980s. In any one singing session, there will be a mix of genres including Music Hall/Wartime, Jazz & Swing, Pop, Rock 'n' Roll, Motown, Reggae, Country & Folk songs. The activities team encourage the residents to sing along, clap along, dance or move in any way that the residents can. I find their involvement helps the residents to want to relax and join in and this is very helpful and of great benefit to the residents. The activities team always work very hard to make these themes a total experience for the residents and visitors, so that the reception area and rooms for the activities will be decorated, along with the team often wearing costumes to go with the theme. There's a general belief that I share with the activities team that our main aim is to raise the spirits of the residents, to help them have fun and enjoy the moment. I have a great relationship with Yolande and the rest of the team and it's obvious that they work very hard to provide a wide selection of activities for the residents. I have also noted that the activities team have a lovely rapport with the residents, understanding their likes and dislikes and having lots of chats with them and treating them respectfully. They have other regular singers and a magician, who are very popular with the residents and I'm often told about days out and the different kinds of music that the residents enjoy. I'm always welcomed in a warm way by the activities team, receptionists, carers, managers and other staff members.

My nan has been in here since April 2023. At first, everyone was very friendly and helpful. This was not only towards my nan but towards us a family. As time has gone on, the care has decreased. My nan has expressed several times that the night staff are horrible. They don't want to do anything to help. Shes been told several times "what do you want now" or "stop ringing the bell". As she has had to say "I can't get to anything so I need your help". I don't understand why they go into the profession when they have no compassion. Especially when most of the residents have some form of illness/mobility issues and will need the help. My nan became ill with severe headaches and vomiting. She was left to suffer like this for 4-5 weeks. After speaking to the GP and nurses onsite, she was just dosed up with just paracetamol. My mum had to have a word with them that paracetamol is just not strong enough for her. In the end my mum had to insist that they called her an ambulance. After an argument about it, they finally called one. From this my nan ended up staying in hospital for over a week. Anytime any family member goes to visit (doesn't matter what time), everyone seems to be left to stagnate in their rooms. My nan keeps saying there is no activities going on. At first we didn't believe her, we thought it was where she didn't want to go. But over time, i have heard from several other resident and their families that there is nothing done to stimulate them. Over heard one resident that he is constantly told to go back to his room. To us this is unacceptable, just because they are in a care home doesn't mean they are not human. They still need to have interaction and stimulation, which is just not happening. Being a Bupa Care Home, they would be a bit more respectable. Would NOT recommend to anyone

Not enough staff, filthy room. Water jug full, but no cup/glass for him to use. Bathroom floor even worse. Holes in the wall, wardrobe falling to pieces. Our friends lunch arrived with filthy used cutlery, we had to wash it before he could use it. Clean and tidy Reception with visitors’ toilet kept spotless, but vulnerable residents rooms are not. This is not what is expected from Bupa and requires investigation/training,
