I have been a hairdresser at Avondale for over 8 years now. The salon is very spacious, warm, welcoming and an accommodating environment for all the residents needs. The staff are brilliant at helping residents between their unit and the salon. Thank you to the housekeeping staff who also keep the salon immaculate.

We really enjoyed our time at Avondale and are very grateful to them for their hospitality as we finished our tour of A Christmas Carol . The residents seemed to enjoy the play and we will always include Avondale in our plans for the future. Nick Andrews. Ubiquitous Theatre.

We are an entertainment duo who perform regularly at Avondale. We always have a lovely experience there, seeing that the residents have a lovely relationship with the staff and are well cared for. They have a full schedule of activities on offer for the residents to participate in.

Approached Avondale Care Home regarding my father who isn't managing well at home. The young lady I spoke to was super helpful about all the services that may be available to dad, and really took time to answer my questions even though it was just a preliminary enquiry. - Thank you for your kindness!

My partner’s mother went into Avondale Care Home for respite following an illness and some time spent in hospital. The home was very accommodating and looked after her with care and made her feel very comfortable. Despite her initial wishes to return to her own home she quickly felt that Avondale was the place she wanted to make her new home and decided to stay there long term. The staff are always friendly and helpful and always leave you feeling that she is going to be well looked after and supported. I would recommend Avondale to anyone who wants a good quality of care and support for their loved ones.

Grant and the care team are incredibly welcoming and caring in their approach. I visited the centre to volunteer with my therapy dog and there were smiles all around. The centre was very clean, modern and homely and the residents all seemed very happy and content. I would definitely recommend Avondale for a local facility

Its been a great pleasure to have myself with Avondale care in Aylesbury for my first placement. The manager-Antonios,Deputy manger-Maggie,Team leader- Stefan as well as the entire members of staff gave me a warm welcome. The care provided by Avondale to its residents/service users is excellent and awesome. The team has been very supportive throughout my journey as a student.Eventhough my placement is still ongoing,I have gained enormous experince in looking after vulnerable adults including those with dementia.looking forward to working with you in future.

The clinical staff are lovely and work very hard but unfortunately management does not appreciate their hard work. They are overworked and understaffed with a high turnover rate and unfortunately the residents and families are able to see this and it has an effect on the care as a whole.

The night staff were terrible when caring for my mother who was dying of COPD. The inflatable bed that they use to combat bed sores went flat on her first night there, and my poor mum was left all night trying to sleep on a the metal struts of the bed! Not the level of care one expects for £1900 a week!! And all the night staff did was just stick pillows underneath her! Mums bed was eventually replaced at 4pm the next day after I raised concerns and only to be told that there are spare inflatable mattresses that should have been used!! And a full 18 hours after them being aware of the situation! Also in mums short time in the home (5 days) she said that the night staff were rude to her, mum had asked a carer if she could top up her drink from the jug in her room, only to be snapped at that she wasn't the only person that they had to look after! And to insult to injury mum wasn't asked what evening meal she wanted ( so much for the promise of a selection from the menu)and was served pasta (one of mums pet hates), when she asked for a sandwich instead, she was told that it wasnt possible, so after a night struggling on metal slats with bed sores she was deprived of food as well! One of the day staff admitted to us that the night staff weren't up to the job and concerns had been previously raised, which meant that the management were aware of the poor quality of care shown, not only to mum but no doubt the rest of the residents. Poor show Avondale hardly the 5 star care that they claim and certainly not the care that someone wants for their elderly mother in her last days. I now wish that we had let mum stay in Stoke Mandeville hospital where she had recieved excellent care from the nurses and carers. Mum was always polite and sweet to those helping her. And in her hour of need to spend her final few days in a home being neglected on a number of occasions was disgraceful. Gary Wilson Linda Wilson 23/12/46 20/11/18 I've noticed that since my review was placed that the next review is praising Avondale, I have looked at the other reviews that the lady has contributed on, and note that they are all in praise of various other care homes dotted around the country ( all owned by Porthaven) I typed her name into Facebook and it turns out that there is a nurse from Aylesbury who shares the same name. So not only shoddy care but it seems shoddy reviews as well. A more suspicious person could come to the conclusion that these are dubious reviews. I have tried to write a review on the Avondale website but they wouldn't show it. I was contacted by the parent company Porthaven asking me to confirm that I had written the damning review and was told that they would look and see if they would allow it on their website, needless to say I didn't get a reply and the review wasn't shown. I am really annoyed that they have played it like this, my mum was dreading going into a home ( I didn't use the word care as it seemed to be scant in mums case) and after the horrendous treatment she recieved at the hands of the night staff she had every reason to be worried. It may very well look fabulous and modern to the visitor, but at night when no one is there it seems that it's a very different story.
